Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We're so pleased with how the windows turned out, the refurbished frames look so good. Anecdotally, they seemed to have improved the soundproofing, although we live practically on top of a main road, so does not completely shut out the noise, the casement windows more than the bay windows. Cannot comment on the thermal quality as they were done in the middle of the heatwave, but we are fairly confident there will be a big improvement come winter. Cannot fault the workmen, they were reliable and extremely hard working, even when it was 30C +

Would definitely use them again if we ever needed windows to be refurbished in future.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very happy with the new windows they look fantastic.
Keeping the original windows was so important to us and you have made that possible.
We only had the upstairs completed and can't believe the difference in the sound and temperature from downstairs.
Will be booking the downstairs in ASAP.
The team are also fantastic and worked incredibly hard they treated our home with respect and keep evething as clean as they can.
I would definitely recommend.
Hopefully we will get the same team next time!
The neighbours are also asking who done the work and have commented on how hard you worked !
Very happy customers.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Scott James did our restoration work years ago, so when it came time to sort the insulation, there was no question who we'd call. Glad to say they're still the same lot. Still doing things properly.
The new VIG glazing has made the house genuinely warmer, and a fair bit quieter too. Lovely to see familiar faces, lovely to see they still take pride in the work. Wouldn't go anywhere else

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Trustindex. Exceptional sash window restoration experience
We had a great experience having our sash windows double glazed and draught proofed. We were very impressed by the quality of the work and the team’s craftsmanship from the start. From the initial consultation with Alex right through to the restoration of the windows, the experience was seamless. They were clearly experts in their field.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The end result genuinely surprised us. The original frames have been brought back to life sanded, restored, repainted and the new glazing has made a noticeable difference to both the temperature and the noise from the road. For roughly what secondary glazing would've cost, we've got something that actually looks like part of the house rather than bolted onto it.

Sash window restoration and reglazing in Norfolk

Scott James specialises in sash windows repair in Norfolk and covers all aspects of sash and casement window restoration.

Our comprehensive repair service renews and extends the life of rotten windows, and we also improve their energy efficiency by upgrading glazing.

Double glazing existing wooden sashes with VIG glazing

Our team can restore and reglaze your original wooden window sashes with VIG glazing, one of the latest developments in the glazing industry.

It outperforms triple glazing while being thin enough to fit even the narrowest frames.

In the image below, you can see a thermal comparison of all types of glazing available on the market and how VIG glazing compares to them.

Slimline double glazing is another option available for retrofit; however, VIG is a more durable and energy-efficient solution. It offers better value and is more cost-effective in the long run, as it requires less maintenance and does not need to be replaced as frequently.

All VIG glazing manufacturers offer a 15+ year guarantee and an expected service life of over 25 years.

Our team is an installer; we do not manufacture the glazing and are independent of the factories. We can install any suitable glazing into your windows, whether VIG or slimline. However, based on our years of experience and the feedback we receive from our customers, there are certain products we are able to recommend.

A comparison chart shows five types of glazing, including double glazing sash windows, by heat retention, thickness, and retrofit suitability, with labeled images and measurements for each glazing type.

Two-story brick house with large sash windows—some covered in ivy—surrounded by bare trees and a gravel driveway. Ideal for those seeking sash windows repair in Norfolk.

Old frames – new glazing

To achieve modern energy-efficiency standards, it is not necessary to replace your window frames. Existing frames can be refurbished, any rot repaired, and retrofitted with VIG glazing.

This is a cost-effective way to improve thermal efficiency, reduce energy bills, and minimise external noise, while also preserving original features—particularly important for listed properties or those located in conservation areas.
